What happens when you smile?

When you are happy, signals are transmitted to your facial muscles, and you start to smile. When you smile, your face muscles lift and transfer signals to the brain. Stimulates your reward system and increases your level of happy hormones called endorphins.

When you smile, your body releases Serotonin, Endorphins & Cortisol, which is a natural painkiller.

You can also release Serotonin and Endorphins during sports, a massage, meditation, stretching or yoga, a relaxing warm bath, and Laughing, of course.

Laughing is much easier, and the best thing about smiling is, you can do it everywhere, the whole day long. You don’t need instruments, clothes, or private space.

  1. Impressive. I never knew smiling had this much effect on our health. Both mental and physical. I always try to smile and be happy knowing that, that’s a blessing we people should appreciate.

Now I am more motivated to smile because of all of these benefits. You not only help yourself but also the people around you. Modes spread and affect the people around you, so smiling a lot can brighten up somebody’s day.

Thanks for this motivational and positive post.

  2. In my book, smiling is good for our health in a number of ways. It can reduce stress, help heart health, lower blood pressure, and boost your immune system by decreasing cortisol in the body. A simple smile, genuine prompts the brain to produce endorphins and serotonin, causing positive emotions. And even forced smiles produce the same endorphins and serotonin.

  3. I have to admit, I frown a lot. And my husband has been telling me, reminding me, again and again not to. Smile, he said. I guess frowning has become a bad habit of mine as I get impatient very quickly made worse with a short temper. It ain’t good that I know. It is difficult to change but I’m willing and smile no matter what, helps. For health or for staying beautiful, smile always.

Thanks for writing such a beautiful article. I enjoyed the read 🙂

Smile, though your heart is aching

Smile, eben though its breaking , when there are clouds in the sky you’ll get by

If you smile through your fear and sorrow . smile and maybe tomorrow
